The Half-Life of Marie Curie title card

by Lauren Gunderson

Once seen as a renowned chemist winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911, by 1912 the press was painting Marie Curie as a "foreign" homewrecker for having an affair with a married Frenchman. To the rescue came her good friend and fellow scientist, Hertha Ayrton, taking Marie away to a seaside retreat in secret. This play highlights the strength of female friendship, as these two scientists radiate power, empathy, determination, and forgiveness.
